Few things are as evil as unveiling an exciting new game mode for an upcoming game and then opening up preorders right away. At least that’s the idea I got from Evil Genius 2‘s latest media blitz, which includes… a new game mode reveal (Sandbox Mode) and the announcement that preorders are now live.
I guess I’m a bit evil too, because I have to say that the pre-purchase discounts are tempting (10% off until launch, and a further 5% off on top if you own the first Evil Genius) and the Sandbox Mode trailer promises some good old fashioned supervillain fun without the constraints of a normal campaign (the villain can win here!).
Build your lair without having to worry about campaign progression or unlocking things – or about how little sense your layout makes. Fill your floors with umpteen pinball bumper traps and watch enemy agents bounce around perpetually.
Create the first open-plan supervillain HQ. Or make it impossible for minions to do their jobs by turning your corridors into a ridiculous maze; it’s up to you. If you want the freedom to create the villainous base of your dreams and someone else’s nightmares, Sandbox Mode is perfect for you.
